Photographs – A Poem on Memories in Pictures

Memories of our past
Carrying emotions of the moment,
Portals to the past, visualization

Drawings of light, magic
Capturing elements of symmetry, color, and space
Secrets about secrets, recording life in the digital

Beautiful creations
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words,
I think a good photo is worth a thousand lifetimes

A dedication to the loved and departed. May their memories live in the photographs they left behind, and we the custodians of the special moments of their lives, part in ours.

  1. 100%, I’m particular fascinated by old family black and white photos; always curious to know what they were thinking about at the time ….

  2. Ah, beautiful! Especially loved the line “They say that a picture is worth a thousand words,
I think a good photo is worth a thousand lifetimes”

    1. Thank you. It came from a deep place within my heart. The poem is a dedication to my mum. A photo I have of her that helps keep the memories alive.

There’s a Mexican movie called Coco I’d recommend you watch. An animation. Teaches the power photos have especially to our loved ones.

      1. That is heartwarming. She would be very proud of you for writing this for her.

I have watched it. One of my favourite films. It’s not just the film that teaches the power of photos but Mexican culture itself.
