ATLANTA and WASHINGTON, December 1, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Customers who enroll in the Affordable Connection Program (ACP) and/or use Cox’s Connect2Compete (C2C) service experience significant positive customer impacts, according to a recent report by Cox’s third-party research firm. their careers, their children’s education and the continuing education of adults in their households.

Cox’s long-term commitment to bridging the digital divide began 20 years ago with Connect2Compete for families with children K-12. Today, Cox proudly administers the Federal Government’s ACP program to provide financial assistance to customers, and recently introduced ConnectAssist, a new low-cost solution ideal for veterans, senior citizens and Americans with disabilities. C2C and ConnectAssist customers can get free internet when the ACP benefit is applied.

Key findings October 2022 The report, which surveyed more than 2,000 customers:

  • About half have home internet for the first time

  • 70 percent loan home internet to find a new job or better job

  • Half said they received a promotion or pay raise

  • 90 percent said they already do homework at home

  • Half said they were already able to apply to college and apply for financial aid

  • Half said they received certification in a specific skill or trade

  • One-third reported being the first generation of college graduates in their family as a result of home Internet

  • 90 percent of households say that Internet access has a positive impact on their children’s education

  • Customers used words like grateful, relieved and blessed to describe having internet for the first time

“Internet access at home is a very important service for obtaining quality education and achieving professional goals,” he said. Of the positive effects of Internet access, 93 percent of ACP and C2C customers say they can more easily pay their bills on time, and 95 percent of C2C customers say it provides a way for them to spend more time with their families. together.

One ACP customer said, “I absolutely love it. I’m so happy I got the discount, it helps me a lot because I’m a widow and living on Social Security.”

In addition, nine out of 10 ACP and C2C customers say the Cox Internet allows their children to access educational resources, complete homework and participate in distance learning, and gives adults in the household a better opportunity to communicate with the child’s teacher.

“I couldn’t afford internet service before this opportunity,” said a Cox customer using C2C service. “My daughter couldn’t do her homework at home, and I couldn’t take her to the public library.”

The 2022 Cox Digital Equity Research report is based on a survey of Cox customers enrolled in ACP and/or C2C services.
