Edgecore Networks Introduces Next-Generation High-Performance Aggregation Router Family for Internet Peering, 5G Networking, OpenBNG and Aggregation Applications

HSINCHU, Taiwan–(BUSINESS PROPERTY)–Edgecore Networks, a leader in open networking solutions, today announces its next-generation high-performance 100G open aggregation router family – the AGR400 series – to enable enterprises and service providers to deploy future-proof and advanced solutions for viewing the Internet, 5G network, OpenBNG and aggregation programs. Based on the latest Broadcom StrataDNX™ Qumran2C silicon with 2.4Tbps switching capacity and deep buffer design, the Edgecore AGR400 series provides open networking platforms serving a variety of use cases including core, metro and aggregation.

The new backbone router – AGR400 consists of 4 x 25G SFP28, 18 x 100G QSFP28, 4 x 100G QSFP-DD and 4 x 400G QSFP-DD network interfaces in a 2RU compact design. Leaf router – AGR420 consists of 64 x 10G/25G SFP28, 8 x 100G QSFP28 and 2 x 100G QSFP-DD network interfaces. These two routers use a powerful 8-core server-grade Intel CPU, 32G RAM and a 128G SSD with the latest AST2800 BMC chipset. This aggregation router family is capable of providing a Time Sensitive Network (TSN) interface, network slicing, and eCPRI encapsulation, ideal as a PE router or Ethernet aggregation router. In addition, the AGR400 series supports high-power optical transceivers that extend the service range.

Designed for office deployment, the AGR400 series with 5 front-to-back counter-rotating fans provides industry-best larger and more powerful cooling and 1+1 load-sharing modular redundant PSUs for high availability and hassle-free maintenance.

Edgecore’s aggregation router product portfolio is proven, versatile, and highly productive because Edgecore works closely with software partners such as Casa Systems, IP Infusion, and RtBrick. Users have a live set of NOS options available on Edgecore platforms. Edgecore offers a complete routing portfolio with high performance, high capacity and high scalability for new innovative services to support 5G mobile, provider edge and broadband network connections.

Nanda Ravindran, Vice President of Product Management, Edgecore, said: “As a leader in open networking solutions, Edgecore offers core, metro and aggregation routers based on the Broadcom StrataDNX family of chipsets with a deep buffer design capable of handling the most demanding usage. to deliver the quality, reliability and features expected by operators and situations. With carrier-grade reliability and multipurpose capabilities, the AGR400 series supports a number of important features including Ethernet OAM, MPLS and segment routing, an ideal solution for carrier, campus and cloud network environments.”

“Broadband demand is steady in both urban and rural networking markets,” said Atsushi Ogata, President and CEO of IP Infusion. “The combination of IP Infusion’s OcNOS and Edgecore’s aggregation routers provides a best-in-class networking solution for today, as well as a broad selection of open networking options to meet any broadband connectivity requirements in the future.”

“The new AGR400 series is a powerful new range of open switches that will expand telcos’ choice of fragmented hardware,” said Hannes Gredler, CTO and founder of RtBrick Inc. “During the integration and testing of our routing software, we found that the AGR400 range provides a step-change in performance from previous generation switches, delivering services at scale to satisfy even the world’s largest networks.
