Elon Musk’s Starlink Internet Service will soon be launched in Kenya

If you scroll around Kenya on the Starlink website, you’ll see good news: Nairobi and Mombasa will be covered in Q2 2023. Admittedly, this is Elon Musk’s company, so promises are never delivered on time. However, this is still great news. And that’s worth getting excited about.

What is Starlink?

Basically, it’s a crazy venture by Elon Musk’s SpaceX. The goal is to connect as many people as possible – especially in regions where traditional Internet providers have not expanded – to the Internet. They want to do this by having a network of satellites in orbit.

How it works:

There are stations that broadcast signals from Earth to space. There are mini-satellites in orbit that receive the signal. These satellites are approximately 480-550 km above us. They then transmit the signal to small satellite dishes that customers purchase from Starlink. You then plug these small dishes into your home to provide internet connectivity to your devices.
