Life Time announces the 2023 Grand Prix

After a successful first year, Life Time continues its commitment to growing cycling fans in the US with a second season and a $250,000 purse.

CHANHASSEN, Minn., (November 17, 2022) /DURABILITY SPORTSWIRE/ –Following the successful finale of the 2022 Grand Prix race series at the Big Sugar Gravel presented by Mazda in Bentonville, Ark., Life Time (NYSE: LTH), the nation’s premier healthy lifestyle brand and event producer, is announcing details for the 2023 Life Time Grand. Award presented by Mazda.

For 2023, the series will expand to seven races – the last of which is a Wild Card event to be announced on January 11. With this change, athletes will be able to compete in up to two events, up from one last year. In addition, field sizes will expand to 35 female and 35 male riders, and entry fees will be covered by Life Time. In addition, doping control will be expanded to include more competitions and athletes. A total of $250,000 in prize money will be awarded to the top 10 female and male athletes at the end of the series.

Application window:

  • Athletes can apply from December 1 to 7.
  • Life Time will announce the 35 women and 35 men selected on December 15, 2022.

Prize purse:

  • A seventh ‘Wild Card’ event will be added for 2023, allowing participants to enter up to two events.
  • Athletes can ride all seven events and receive points for their five best performances.
  • A total of $250,000 in prize money will be awarded to the top ten male and female finishers as follows:

    2. $20,000
    3. $16,000
    4. $13,000
    5. $11,000
    6. $10,000
    7. 9000 dollars
    8. 8000 dollars
    9. 7000 dollars
    10. 6000 dollars

Doping control:

  • In 2022, Life Time introduced anti-doping procedures at three Grand Prix events. This will expand to more events in 2023, with more athletes tested, including athletes in elite fields not part of the 70 Grands Prix.

2022 Life Time Grand Prix presented by Mazda Results:

  • Canadian XC mountain biker and Olympian, Haley Smith, 29, of Uxbridge, Ont. was the first in the women’s category with 138 points.
  • Three-time National XC Mountain Bike Championship winner Keegan Swenson, 28, of Heber City, Utah, topped the men’s division with 149 points.
  • Each athlete took home $25,000.
