Ever since Disney purchased Fox, fans have been wondering when to expect Marvel Studios to use Deadpool. Over the past few months, a third film has been confirmed to be in production and filming has begun. But until a few days ago, one name completely blew the audience’s buzz: Wolverine.
That’s right, not only will Ryan Reynolds return as the Merc with a Mouth, but Hugh Jackman is also set to return as the iconic mutant. The last time the audience saw the character, he had just died Logan– but that obviously doesn’t stop him here.
Reynolds will finally be able to reunite the two, something he’s been trying to do for a long time since they first got together in 2009. X-Men Origins: Wolverine. What makes this even more incredible is that as of August 2021, Hugh Jackman was still firmly committed to the character; oh how time can change.
Now the actor has opened up about breaking the internet with the big reveal and how much he appreciates the support from viewers around the world.
Reynolds Thinks About Breaking the Internet
In an interview with Forbes, Ryan Reynolds talked about Hugh Jackman’s return to the role of Wolverine Deadpool 3and his announcement videos later blew up the internet.
Reynolds revealed that indeed he was “I’ve been sitting on those two teasers for a few weeks now:”
“I couldn’t be more excited… I mean, especially to do it this way. Finally, I get to work with some of my closest friends in the world, and it’s not every day in this business. I’m excited and have been sitting on these two teasers for a few weeks now. It’s one of those moments when you hit send or a tweet or a post—your hand shakes when you’re so engaged with the zeitgeist. It was amazing.
The actor continued his words and noted “feeling[s] as the fans do” and is excited to see the character return along with the Merc with a Mouth:
“But I feel the same way the fans feel. I’m really excited that this character is coming back for another journey, especially in this context. I think it’s something that people have wanted for a long time on the big screen, and that’s what we’re aiming for.”
He admitted that he was the first Deadpool the movie wouldn’t exist in the first place “If it wasn’t for audience demand:”
“I think audiences really appreciate having some ownership over the stories being told and why the stories are being told. I can say that Deadpool 1 It could never have been done without the surge in audience demand across all social media platforms, and that led to the greenlighting of the film, quite legitimately.”
Reynolds went on to elaborate saying this “The real boss is the people at home:”
“There’s an authorship there – they feel some authorship and ownership over that victory, so I think it’s always important to remember who the real boss is. The real boss is the people at home and the people who go to the movies to pay for it. And that’s really what Maximum Effort- and certainly fits well with many other aspects of the business we have at fubo.[TV].”
The actor doesn’t seem to have forgotten how his fans helped launch the leaked original Deadpool footage shot into the stratosphere—which led to the actual film getting the green light. Well aware of the power that fans can have over a franchise, it’s great to see that Reynolds continues to hold it in his heart.
As for the recent big reveal, fans aren’t the only ones to notice.
Of course, there was the film’s director, who shared his great excitement to work with the two actors. He even thanked those who were there Stranger Things for helping teach him to keep his mouth shut when keeping secrets.
Then there was John Krasinski, who took the chance to hint at his new film, which is currently in production.
Not long after Scarlet Witch’s Elizabeth Olsen found out, she was already expressing her dreams to the world that she might one day star alongside Michael Fassbender’s Magneto.
While the announcement of Wolverine broke the internet, imagine what it would do to see him in real footage. Perhaps fans will dress him in his iconic armor.
