British TV presenter James Corden shocked the internet when he revealed that he was auditioning for the role of Samwise Gamgee. The Lord of the Rings.
While appearing in an episode Happy Sad Mixture The podcast revealed that the 44-year-old tried himself out in an audition for one LOTRare the main characters of Corden added:
“Everyone in London was auditioning for The Lord of the Rings. Everyone. I tested for Samwise. I was doing it! Accent and all!”
When fans heard Corden talk about auditioning and not getting the role, some were relieved, while others shared memories of the same.
Samwise Gamgee was eventually played by Sean Astin.
Corden later added that two of his friends also auditioned and were all called back over the next two days. However, none of them were recalled after that.

After news broke of James Corden auditioning for the role of Samwise Gamgee, Twitterati mocked the situation. Several users breathed a sigh of relief that Corden wasn’t selected for the role, while others noted that the TV host simply “failed” at the audition.

<p>With the same <em>Happy Sad Mixture</em> podcast, James Corden said he still enjoyed watching it even though he failed the audition <em>The Lord of the Rings</em> series. He jokingly added that he did this until the last film where he was screened.</p>
<p>He added that when he saw the last film, he felt he had to go see it <em>Really love.</em></p>
<p>Despite not getting a role <em>The Lord of the Rings</em>Corden has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry.</p>
<p>He started his career at the age of 18 in 1996 by appearing in a musical film <em>Martin Guerre</em>. He made his first appearance on the BBC as a television reporter <em>Good morning Anne and Nick </em>where he interviewed Meat Loaf.</p>
