Umm… Third The Princess Diaries the movie is coming out after a hiatus of nearly 20 years and everyone is *absolutely* freaking out right now.
Based on the novel by Meg Cabot, the original 2001 film starring Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews tells the story of Mia Thermopolis, a teenager who lives with her mother in San Francisco. Mia learns that she’s not just a nerdy nerd trying to get through high school, but rather the heir to the Genovian throne. Over the course of the film, she has to decide that she doesn’t want to live a royal life in the spotlight (and attends a lot of fun royal events in the process). Spoiler alert – she says yes to the princess life.
A very young Chris Pine joined the cast for the 2004 sequel. The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, follows Princess Mia (who must marry within 30 days to be crowned Queen) as she searches for true love after graduating from Princeton University. Although the film ends with Mia convincing parliament that no, she doesn’t need a man to rule the country, Mia and Lord Nicholas Devereaux (aka Chris Pine) are definitely madly in love, which leaves the possibility of a third film quite open. .
And while people are pined (pun intended) over the possibility of a third movie years, it seems good things come to those who wait. As of November 15, this was confirmed by sources The Hollywood Reporter that a third film is coming, and it will be an entirely new continuation of the series rather than a reboot.
Ahead, read all you need to know Princess diaries 3 till now.
Who will work on it Princess diaries 3?
The script will be penned by Aadrita Mukerji Super girl, Reacherand Scorpioand extra credit on episodes New Girl. In case you forgot, the landmark first and second films were written by Gina Wendkos and Shonda Rhimes, respectively.
While the late director Garry Marshall directed the first two films, it is unclear who will direct the third film. But the film will be produced by Debra Martin Chase, who also produced the first two films (with Whitney Houston herself!) and produced by Melissa Stack. Who will be in the squad? Princess diaries 3?
The cast has not been confirmed as the film is still in its *very* early stages. Anne Hathaway doesn’t have a comeback deal (yet!). The Hollywood Reporter he said, but as recently as last month he said he would support a third film.
“I’d rather entertain him, that’s what I’m working towards,” he said Entertainment Tonight. “If there’s any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we’ll make it work. We would go to his place and put a green screen behind him and just make it happen.” I, for one, am screaming from the inside.
It is unclear whether Julie Andrews will decide to return to the role of Queen Clarisse at this time. “I think it would be too late to do that now,” he said The Hollywood Reporter June 8. “It’s too far to go back now. It’s a nice idea, but I don’t think it’s possible.
But then, on June 9, he said Entertainment Tonight that he really doesn’t know if he’s coming back yet. “It depends on what the story is, and if they can find something, that would be great, but if not, there will be other things,” he said.
What about the plot?
Again, no word on the plot yet, but if there’s one thing I know about Genovia, it’s that there’s always incredible drama going on and plenty of sweet love stories to tell. And of course, like its predecessors, it is bound to err on the side of comedy.
When will it be? Princess diaries 3 will be released?
It’s too early to know as news of the third film has just surfaced and there’s no confirmation yet on when the film will be released. But for now, I’ll let you go this:
How much money do movies make?
Princess diaries 1 grossed $163.5 million globally Princess diaries 2 brought in 134.7 million dollars per capita The Hollywood Reporter. Obviously, it’s still unclear how much the third one will make, but based on the Julie Andrews/Anne Hathaway fan clubs out there, my guess is that it will do just as well as the first two.
I can’t wait to see the Princess of Genovia grace the screen once again. Three cheers for Mia!
