THETHINGS VIDEO OF THE DAY

‘That ’70s Show’ Is Iconic

In a decade that was filled with great sitcoms, That ’70s Show managed to rope in a faithful audience early into its run on TV. It was a great blend of nostalgia, comedy, and relatable themes, all of which played a part in making the show tremendous success.

Starring young stars like Topher Grace, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and Laura Prepon, That ’70s Show benefited greatly from the natural chemistry between the cast. Many of them were close friends behind the scenes, and their bond gave their performances a boost in each episode of the series.

All in all, the show lasted for 8 seasons and 200p episodes, making for one of the most sitcoms of all time. It’s true that some episodes were duds, and that the loss of Topher Grace felt the show on a downward slope. However, it will always be remembered for its best moments.

As part of the show’s original cast, Lisa Robin Kelly was a natural fit, but her time on the show would be marred with matters from her personal life.

Lisa Robin Kelly Starred As Laurie

Early on, Lisa Robin Kelly played Laurie Forman on the show. She was Eric’s older sister, and it quickly became evident that Kelly was the right person for the job.

For the first few seasons, everything seemed to be plugging along nicely, but midway through season three, Laurie’s character was nowhere to be found. This caught fans off guard, and the show simply used her character’s journey to beauty school as the reason for her absence.

Things, however, weren’t quite that easy behind the scenes.

The fame monster was too much for the actress to handle away from the cameras, and a tragic even in her personal life sent her on a downward spiral.

“She then reportedly lost a child and Kelly turned to drinking. It was rumored that her absence on That ’70s Show was due to a drug problem but the actress stated that her alcoholism was the real issue,” ScreenRant reports.

After going through it all, Kelly was able to once again make her way back onto the show for its fifth season. It was nice having Laurie back on board for the show, though this did not last for long.

Sadly, during her final stint on the show, the actress had to have all of her scenes redone for season 6.

The Reason Behind The Reshoots

So, why did all the actress’ scenes need to be done again during the production of season 6? Unfortunately, a major change was made that felt everything in a different direction on the show

According to ScreenRant“Kelly was set to return for the following season but the issues in her personal life arose once again, causing the series to recast Laurie with Moore. The scenes with Laurie in the season 6 premiere had to be re-shot due to the casting change.Moore left MADtv to take on the role of Laurie and had previously worked on shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, Married… with Children, Wings, The Drew Carey Show, and Friends. Moore’s time on That ’70s Show ended up being short-lived since she only appeared in six episodes.”

The site also notes that the character did not appear in the show’s final two seasons, but that she was reference a few times.

After her time on the show, things did not improve much for the former TV star. She all but left acting, ran into a string of legal troubles, and eventually, in 2013, she passed away.
