VGI Technology brings high speed internet to Marble Falls and Horseshoe Bay, Texas with Tarana ngFWA Technology

SAN ANGELO, Texas and MILPITAS, Calif.–(BUSINESS PROPERTY)– Texas-based veteran internet service provider (ISP) VGI Technology and Tarana, developer of the next-generation Gigabit 1 (G1) fixed wireless access (ngFWA) platform, today announced exceptional progress in active G1 deployments. Marble Falls and Horseshoe Bay, Texas.

VGI provides high-quality Internet access as well as video surveillance, security, access control and home automation. The company is locally owned and has been serving Texas communities since 2002.

Tarana is the category creator of ngFWA, a new broadband technology developed as a result of more than a decade of R&D with two major industry breakthroughs: true interference cancellation and remarkable non-line-of-sight (NLoS) performance in both licensed and unlicensed spectrum. As a result, service providers can finally offer market-leading broadband speeds where fiber is practical or impossible.

With years of traditional FWA experience, the VGI team was initially skeptical of the unprecedented claims surrounding G1 performance. However, after testing the product in late 2021 and witnessing download speeds of up to 600 Mbps in a noisy, urban environment, they became Tarana devotees. VGI now has hundreds of customers on active G1 networks, with more installations to come in 2023.

VGI had more reason to be excited about the G1’s capabilities than other ISPs. While Marble Falls and Horseshoe Bay are beautiful vacation spots and the retirement dream of many Texans, the land in this area is solid granite. This makes trenching impossible, and since aerial fiber is not an option in these communities for aesthetic reasons, wireless is their only viable broadband option. Before the G1, this mostly meant unreliable service and inadequate internet speeds.

Now with Tarana ngFWA, your wireless network doesn’t have to be compromised. Marble Falls and Horseshoe Bay community members who previously only settled for 5-50 Mbps service plans can now get speeds of up to 400 Mbps on VGI’s G1 network. An end user stated that this was “the best service Horseshoe Bay has ever provided”.

ngFWA is a game changer not only for VGI customers, but also for their business. They have over 130 active customers on a single Tarana Base Node (BN) installed on a water tower overlooking Horseshoe Bay. Previous technologies limited them to 30 customers per sector. This dramatic increase in power reduced the number of times they had to climb towers and greatly accelerated large-scale deployments.

After resolving the long-standing broadband issue in Horseshoe Bay, the local government and broadband committee are building 3 new towers specifically to support the expansion of VGI’s Tarana-supported ngFWA networks. After fulfilling its mission to provide better internet service to the community, the Horseshoe Bay Broadband Committee is now dissolved.

Scott Gibbs, CEO of VGI Technology, noted, “Tarana has allowed us to bring true high-speed Internet to a place where it simply did not exist. This is an unprecedented performance in wireless technology and we are excited to continue to expand our G1 networks to provide quality connectivity to customers further afield.”

Mike Calabrese, Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Tarana, added, “VGI’s service areas are a prime example of how the Tarana team is thinking about flipping the script on fixed wireless. Residents of Marble Falls and Horseshoe Bay no longer have to sacrifice quality internet to live there. We are proud to be a part of this achievement and look forward to more success stories with the team at VGI.”
