Victoria Beckham reportedly feels ‘guilty’ and ‘frustrated’ that her son Brooklyn Beckham was abruptly dropped from his role as ambassador of Superdry.

The singer, 48, is said to be upset by the news after it was claimed she helped her eldest son, 23, secure the brand deal to boost his profile.

A source told Heat magazine: ‘She pulled a lot of strings to get him his Superdry gig. It was supposed to help build his profile […] so he could start building a future for himself.’

They said that Brooklyn ‘reportedly said no to various shoots and campaign’ that Superdry had asked for, because ‘it didn’t suit his schedule’.

The insider continued: ‘Victoria and David worked so hard to get where they are and it’s such a disappointment to see Brooklyn throwing away these opportunities.’

They further alleged that Brooklyn did not want the Superdry deal, and had wanted to work with Gucci instead, ‘accusing her of pushing him into it’.

They concluded: ‘Of course, Victoria now feels guilty for attempting to help in the first place and is trying to take a step back. But it’s really hard for her and David to watch.’

MailOnline has contacted reps for the Beckhams for comment.

The Mail on Sunday revealed that Superdry had ended its reported £1 million deal with Brooklyn earlier this month.

The company announced in November that he was their new brand ambassador, celebrating with a party at its flagship store in London’s Oxford Street, where guests included Liam Gallagher’s sons Gene and Lennon, the Marchioness of Bath and Lady Kitty Spencer.

In his role, Brooklyn posed in Superdry clothing and uploaded promotional posts to his 14 million Instagram followers.

However, he drew criticism for an apparent conflict with some of his other business ventures.

Social-media users pointed out that he was promoting Superdry’s vegan trainers despite being a meat-eating chef who has been filmed cooking steak.

Unveiling Beckham as a brand ambassador last year, Superdry boss Julian Dunkerton said: ‘To have the endorsement of Brooklyn is a testament to what we’re doing as a brand.

‘As a business, we want to effect positive change for present and future generations, a generation that Brooklyn is speaking to.’

Brooklyn said of a Superdry top at the time: ‘It is so comfortable – my fiancee steals my Superdry T-shirts because they are so soft. She likes to sleep in them.

‘There is also a jacket I really connected with – it is orange and cropped so it sits just above my bum, which I like in my T-shirts and jackets. And the shoes are vegan – how is that possible?’

Confirming the end of the deal, a Superdry spokesman said last night: ‘We always review the ambassadors who feature in our campaigns and decided to work with a different range of talent.’

After initially trying to emulate his father a professional footballer, Brooklyn – who married American actress Nicola Peltz in April – studied photography at Parsons School of Design in New York but left after a year.

He then launched a career as a chef with his online Cookin’ With Brooklyn videos, but was rounded on by critics when he demonstrated how to make a bacon, sausage and egg sandwich on the US show Today.

According to reports, he has sought career advice from his father-in-law, billionaire investment mogul Nelson Peltz.

Nicola recently told Tatler magazine: ‘Brooklyn is getting into very exciting things with his shows and also business things and it’s really sweet. I watch him call my dad and say, “What do you think about this?” I love watching him learn from my dad.’
